ETIQUETTE
& RACE RULES
Aurora
Dog Mushers Race Track Etiquette
KEEP THE HOLDING AREA CLEAN
The outgoing trail
is on the left of the timing tower. Blue signs mean the tail
goes straight, red signs on the right mean the trail turns to
the right and red signs on the left mean the trail turns to
the left. Be aware of other teams and wait until the chute is
clear, before you begin your run. Time your departure so that
you are less likely to be passed by another team.
DO NOT DRAG YOUR
BRAKE OTHER THAN FOR QUICK STOPS AND DO NOT RIDE YOUR MAT!
If you need to slow or stop your team, drag your feet or use
a mat and teach your dogs "whoa." If you cannot control
your team without dragging your brake, run a smaller team.
BE CONSIDERATE, COURTEOUS
AND ALERT FOR OTHER USERS!
Before stopping your team look behind you and stop in a straight
and highly visible area so that approaching teams are aware
of your presence.
If a team coming
up behind you calls "trails", stop or slow your team
and allow the other team an unobstructed pass. Do everything
you can to help them pass. Don't let your dogs jump into another
team or bite other dogs. Dogs that have been bitten or frightened
by another team during a pass will often refuse to pass. If
your dogs move across the trail and block the passing team,
MOVE YOUR DOGS!
